Backstreet Cultural Museum -- The Backstreet Cultural Museum is filled with exhibits reflecting aspects of the unique cultural traditions and institutions of African-American culture in New Orleans – Mardi Gras Indians, Jazz Funerals and Social Aid & Pleasure Clubs.

Habitat for Humanity New Orleans Musicians Village -- Musicians’ Village, a cornerstone of the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) post-Katrina rebuilding effort, is designed to both construct a community and preserve a culture. Conceived by New Orleans natives Harry Connick, Jr. and Branford Marsalis, Musicians’ Village will provide a home for both the artists who have defined the city’s culture and the sounds that have shaped the musical vernacular of the world.

Levees.org -- publicizes the need to repair and rebuild New Orleans levee protection system to adequately protect against future hurricanes.

Music Rising -- Music Rising was created in November of 2005 by U2's The Edge, Bob Ezrin and Henry Juszkiewicz. Music Rising was able to provide replacement instruments to nearly 2,500 professional musicians from the Central Gulf region. Music Rising is now helping churches and schools who were affected by hurricanes to rebuild their music programs by replacing instruments that they lost in the devastation.

The purpose of this blog will be to provide hyperlinks to various companies and merchants from New Orleans who are struggling and need your support. Each purchase will help put a few extra bucks into the New Orleans economy, building its tax base and creating paying jobs for more New Orleanians.

It is my hope that come Christmas, this blog will be a shopping guide for some of those who wish to help support that great city. I believe in the power of the market to move mountains, should people vote with their dollars and support those who need and deserve it.
